We Judge The World Not As It Is, But As We Are.

We judge others based on our reality. We all think that our reality is objective — kind of arrogant when you think about it. We see others as we want to see them or how we have been taught to see them.

When you say I am right and you are wrong and strive to convince others of your reality, you are revealing yourself, your opinions and your beliefs, NOT reality.

If you believe in a God, then you judge others by their belief, or disbelief, in Deity. This is why born-again Christians believe everyone should be a born-again Christian, and atheists endlessly try to prove the unprovable.

Zealous conservative or liberal? Then your baffled others do not see it the way you see it.

Recognize and accept the fact that your view is not always reality. Respect what others believe or don’t believe? Starting with “I’m right, and you are wrong” will fuel anger, misunderstanding, and disconnection.

Accepting and respecting our differences will foster peace, compromise, and connection. Instead of starting with I’m right, and you are wrong, let’s try to start with I know we are different, and it is not just OK, it is good.

*NOTE* There are many variations of the above quote; versions have been used by A. Nin, H. Tomlinson, S. Covey, and others, the origin is unknown.
